Interview with Teacher Deddy, Co-Founder of Kodecoon Academy

To give a deeper insight into the success of our students, we sat down with Teacher Deddy, Co-Founder of Kodecoon Academy and the teacher responsible for training these exceptional students.

Hey Deddy, what are some of the unique strategies you used to prepare students for the HCIC?

Deddy: Hey there! I’m all about keeping it fun and engaging. One thing I do is create a chat group with the students. This lets me share extra questions and foster discussions among them. It’s amazing to see how they help each other out and come up with creative solutions together. We also run mock tests that simulate the pressure of the actual competition. This helps them get used to the time constraints and the intensity they’ll face.

How does Kodecoon Academy’s approach go beyond just doing past year papers?

Deddy: Great question! We make sure our students really understand the concepts being tested, whether it’s in Python, robotics, or engineering. It’s not just about drilling past year papers. We dive deep into the core ideas and principles so they can apply their knowledge in any situation. I also encourage group work because teamwork is key. When students discuss and discover concepts as a team, they learn so much more and develop their problem-solving skills.

Can you share a specific tip that has helped your students excel?

Deddy: Absolutely! One tip I always give is to break down problems into smaller, manageable parts. This makes it less overwhelming and easier to tackle. Also, I tell my students to practice coding regularly and to not be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are where the real learning happens. And of course, staying curious and always exploring new things helps keep their skills sharp and their minds open.

What advice would you give to parents who want to help their children excel in programming and competitions like the HCIC?

Deddy: Encourage your kids to be curious and explore different areas of technology. Provide them with opportunities to learn and practice coding regularly, whether through structured programs like ours or through self-directed learning. It’s also important to foster a supportive environment where they can experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them. Finally, competitions like the HCIC are a great way to challenge students and help them grow, so look for such opportunities and encourage your children to participate.
